Minjur – An Introduction

Minjur is a small town on the outskirts of North Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It's in the Tamil Nadu state of India, in the Thiruvallur district.

Minjur is known as 'Vada Kanchi,' which translates to 'North Kanchipuram.' Similar to Kanchipuram, the town features two well-known Shiva and Vishnu temples. The Chennai Suburban Railway Network's Minjur railway station serves the neighbourhood of Minjur extensively, which has led to the growth of Minjur and rapid urbanisation in recent years.

The Minjur Kattupalli Port that lies between the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea serves as Tamil Nadu's biggest logistic hub for both Export and Import trade activities.

Railways

Minjur railway station is one of the stations on the Chennai Suburban Railway Network's Chennai Central–Gummidipoondi stretch. It is located 26 kilometres north of Chennai Central railway station and serves the Minjur neighbourhood, a suburb of Chennai.

The local trains connect Minjur to various locations within Chennai city such as Velachery, Chennai Beach, Moore Market, Thiruvallur, and Ponneri.

Minjur Athisayam, an upcoming project of GVN Homes, lies just 400 metres away from the Minjur Railway Station. It connects to WIMCO Nagar Metro within 15 minutes. Everyday, more than 20,000 passengers benefit from Minjur's high speed rail transport.

The arrival of the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor Project crossing Minjur aims to take Minjur towards becoming the next big Urban Hub of Tamil Nadu. One of the biggest developments around this area is the Ponneri Node that comes under the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor that lies about 4 KM from Minjur

Ponneri Industrial Node is made up of ten villages in Thiruvallur District's Ponneri Taluk, totaling roughly 21,966 acres. The government designated thousands of acres of land owned by the government and TIDCO in five villages of Ponneri Taluk as the Ponneri Industrial Township Area and established the Ponneri Industrial Township Area Development Authority (PITADA).

The Ponneri Node is the focal point of developmental projects for Krishnapattinam in Andhra Pradesh, Tumkur in Karnataka and Ponneri in Tamil Nadu. With a budget of 32,000 crores, work is underway for this industrial development project in Ponneri as declared by the Government Of Tamil Nadu. This project is located only about 4 kilometres from Minjur and covers 13 villages ranging around 22,000 acres.
